I always think the best part of my job is getting to know the people in which I photograph. I want to make a portrait that means something about them and reflects who they really are. I think I nailed it, what do you think?
We want to save you as much time as possible. To help you find the answers you need, we will continuously update this page with questions that we are asked frequently. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you don’t see what you’re looking for! We’re always happy to hear from you.
Q. WHAT KIND OF CAMERA DO YOU USE? A. Canon 5D Mark II, 21 MP. I also have a Canon 5D, much lighting equipment, and an arsenal of lens.
Q. Where did you study photography? A. I was self-taught for many years but since I am a member of two wonderful organizations I am constantly learning from seminars, webinars, and other professionals to better my skills as a photographer and make amazing memories for you! I have also attended KPPS (Kansas Professional Photographers School) in Newton, KS several summers.
Q. WHAT WILL MY SESSION BE LIKE? A. In a single word FUN! Your session should be fun because if you’re having a great time, you’ll feel good and if you’re comfortable you’ll look terrific! It is not just about having your portrait taken it is an EXPERIENCE! The more fun you have the better your portraits will be.
Q. WHEN WILL MY PORTRAITS BE READY? A. Fast! I pride myself on quality work and superior customer service. After your session you will be contacted within *2 weeks (working days) to set up a proofing/ordering session at the studio. After you place your order your heirlooms will be back and beautifully packaged within *2 weeks (working days).
Q. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE LOCATION? A. The best location is the one that means something to you! We can take awesome portraits ANYWHERE. I usually ask you a few questions that will help us figure out what is best suited for you.
Q. WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR? A. First and foremost be you. I like to communicate with you before the session on what would look best in the locations we choose. For families the decisions have to be made ahead of time. When choosing clothing for your session, it is best to have complementary colored outfits. Choosing medium to dark colored clothing with long sleeves are flattering on most people. I recommend avoiding busy patterns. Most seniors and children bring several outfits and we work together on what would look best when. Do make sure to dress from head to toe (don’t forget to bring the shoes that match!) Also, when your session is on location you might have to change in the car. So be prepared for that.
Q. HOW MANY OUTFIT CHANGES CAN I BRING? A. That depends on you. I usually encourage seniors to bring everything they like and then we decide what are their favorites and the best for the situations. Some families decide to a casual setting and a more formal. Just remember that there is only so much time and the more time you spend in the dressing room is less time in the studio or on location. Also, when your session is on location you might have to change in the car. So be prepared for that. *For normal portrait sessions and non-custom orders I am excited to offer you a nice selection of custom boutique photographic and press printed products. All prints are created on professional grade photographic paper and sprayed with a luster finish. All press print products are created on 100 lb. silk paper. With proper care and handling, these items will last for several generations. Desk prints starting at $12 Session fees starting at $40 You can find more info. on the Grow with Me Baby Plan here. I am just so grateful today to wake up to another beautiful morning. Last night I was feeling pretty sorry for myself just about silly stuff. It is amazing how the little things cheer me up like… -my dad answering the phone “Mule Barn, which ___ do you want to speak to?” and the sound of his laughter. You see, you have to understand he has caller id now and thinks it is “awesome” (his words). Lol! -having amazing friends to lean on who call to hear my story even when I have assured them that I am ok. -the laughter of my children from the other room or the excitement on their faces when they are happy. -having a conversation with my 2 year old nephew who is fluent in a different language (it is just a shame that I only know English) LOL! -the way the sunlight backlights my youngest daughters long blong hair and the soft spring breeze makes it flow. ok, so the last one was the photographer coming out in me. I notice all those little things, maybe not yesterday but today. 🙂
